About Me.

I am a 30-something professional living in Chicago with my husband, J, and our 2 dogs (who are the most beautiful dogs in the world). I thought, due to the fact that this seems to be the case for most other people, that getting pregnant would be easy. In fact, I spent copious amounts of time and energy avoiding said condition in my twenties. I found, however, that getting knocked up is quite challenging. Sex, apparently, does not carry any risk of conception. Good to know. After a few bouts of Clomid and 4 failed IUIs, we moved on to the romantic world of IVF. Turns out, IVF works for us. IVF #1 resulted in the meekest of BFPs, a roller coaster of blood, tears and eventual miscarriage. I turned into the saddest girl ever. IVF #2, 4 months later, resulted in another BFP and somehow that embryo stuck around. Miracle of miracles, our ridiculously perfect son, Henry, was born on 4/4/14.
IVF #3 in June of 2015 was successful and we are giddily awaiting the birth of our second petri-dish kiddo.

  1. Us infertiles sure did waste a lot of money on birth control, didn't we? Hoping for good things for you guys in the IVF jungle - godspeed!

    1. Oh, Sarah. I could be a very wealthy woman if I'd squirreled away the $10 monthly copay for those ridiculous pills. Plus the dollars spent on pregnancy tests when I thought perhaps I was pregnant because my period was 30 seconds late.
All of us infertiles should have had some fool proof test done when we were 18, proving our uteruses broken, and then put all that money towards infertility research. Or an amazing vacation. Either one.

    1. Thanks, Molly! Yes, I guess I have neglected to update me "About Me" section. Perhaps afraid of tempting fate?
I will check out your site and just might take you up on the whole sharing thing...
